Cuban voluteers defended in the battlefields the just antifascist
cause of the Spanish people, while, in the country, there was a wide
movement of material help and moral support. Pablo de la Torriente
Brau (1901-1936) -standing at the left- honored journalist and revolutionary
fighter against Machado dictatorship, commissioner of the International
Brigades, felt heroically in the front of Madrid on December 19. |

to the constituent Congress of the Confederation of Cuban Workers
(Confederación de Trabajadores de Cuba, CTC) that was in session from
January 23-28, 1939. This was an important victory of the labor-class
unity and revolutionary proletariat. Lázaro Paña was chosen Secretary
General of the CTC. He was a communist leader and the "Captain
of the Cuban labor class". |

in La Habana from March 21-26, 1939. Its sixteen agreements
reflected the achieved development during the unity and organization
process of women, and their participation in the struggle for vital
