VICE ADMIRAL PEDRO M. A. PEREZ BETANCOURT

 

Chief of the Revolutionary Navy

Born 10 August 1940

Higher Military Education Graduate 

Participated in the revolutionary struggle against the tyranny. In mid-1958, as his underground activities were discovered, he joined the Rebel Army as a member of Column No. 1 of the Sierra Maestra’s First Front and participated in several combat actions. 

He is a deputy of the National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament). 

In 1962, he joins the corps of Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) officers in the Revolutionary Navy, to hold different positions until, in 1971, he is assigned to take studies at the FAR Academy and, subsequently, the Naval Academic Course in the URSS. On finishing his studies, he holds different posts, until he is appointed Chief of the Western Naval Base. He accomplished an internationalist mission at the Syrian Arab Republic. 

Because of his merits and positive results, he has been awarded among others, the Liberation War Combatant, Underground Struggle Combatant, and FAR Exemplary Service medals, by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces.
