BRIGADIER GENERAL PEDRO J. MENDIONDO GOMEZ

 

Chief of the Anti-Aircraft Defense and Revolutionary Air Force

Born 13 August 1945

Higher Military Education Graduate 

At the triunph of the Revolution, he joins the Youth Patrols and, later, the Association of  Young Rebels. In 1961, he takes an artillery course and, during the October (Missile) Crisis,  joins a People’s Defense Battallion as company chief. 

He enrolls the Revolutionary Armed Forces in 1963 at the San Julian School. After graduating, he holds different positions at Anti-Aircraft Defense and Revolutionary Air Force (DAAFAR) units, until he is appointed Chief of Staff. 

He accomplishes an internationalist mission in the Peoples’s Republic of Angola, where he is promoted to the rank of colonel. Because of his merits and Revolutionary background, he has been awarded by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba and the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces the Service to the Homeland Order, as well as the “Ignacio Agramonte” and Internationalist Combatant first-class medals.
